White Coconut Chutney


White coconut chutney Recipe-kerala style white coconut chutney recipe is a side for dosa and idli.The maintaining of white colour chutney is skipping the step of adding red chilli powder.Instead of that we add green chillies while grinding the coconut for the chutney.

Do try this kerala chutney..Have it with dosa..Cheers..!



Ingredients that we need:


  1. Coconut-Grated 1 cup
  2. Green Chillies-3 no.s
  3. Shallots-3 no.s(For grinding)
  4. Shallots-Finely chopped.
  5. Ginger-1/2" piece
  6. Curry leaves-few
  7. Mustard seeds-1/2 teaspoon.
  8. Dried Red chillies-2 to 3 numbers.
  9. Salt-As required
  10. Oil-2 tbsp
  11. Water-About 1 cup.

Method of prepration:

  1. Grind the coconut with green chillies,shallots,ginger to a smooth paste.
  2. You can add a little water for grinding.
  3. Then pour this coconut paste to a deep bottomed pan.Heat it.Do not boil it.Keep stirring at a regular intervals.Do not allow it to boil.At the stage of starting boiling turn of the flame.
  4. Heat oil in another pan (You can use a small pan).Add in mustard seeds.Allow it to splutter.
  5. Now add chopped shallots into it.When it comes golden brown add in curry leaves and dried red chillies.
  6. Turn off the flame and add this to the coconut chutney..

Serve with dosa or idli.If you need the authenthic kerala taste add coconut oil instead if vegetable oil.
