Prawns Masala | Chemmen masala


Hi readers..
I have not posted a chemmeen/prawn/shrimp recipes yet..So here I am posting a nadan masala mix with chemmeen.. Really it is an another mouthwatering dish.. I make this with a little bit of spicy.. You can adjust the spice according to your taste..It is very easy to make , my family loves it..I am a prawns lover.:)

Kerala style chemmen masala /Prawns masala.
Ingredients for prawns masala:

  1. Prawns-Peeled,clean 250 gms.
  2. Ginger and garlic-crushed,2 tablespoon.
  3. Onion-2 big,chopped.
  4. Green chillies-3 no.,chopped
  5. Tomato-1 medium sized,chopped.
  6. Curry leaves-2 sprigs.
  7. Water-As required.
  8. Salt to taste.
  9. Oil -2 tablespoon.

Spice powders:

  1. Turmeric powder-1 teaspoon.
  2. Chilly powder-2 teaspoon.
  3. Garam masala powder-2 teaspoon.
  4. Coriander powder-1 tablespoon.
Method of preparation:

  1. Take a deep bottomed pan.Pour a cup of water into it.Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of turmeric and mix well.Add in peeled,clean prawns to it.Cover it and cook for sometimes.Keep this aside.
  2. Heat a pan with oil in it.Add in ginger garlic ans saute for few seconds.
  3. Add in chopped onion,green chillies and curry leaves to it.Saute them finely.Add salt to taste.
  4. When the onion becomes translucent add in tomato and saute for 2 minutes.
  5. Add in all spice powders one by one.
  6. Keep the flame at simmer.
  7. Add in cooked prawns along with water in it.Mix them well.Cover it and cook for 5 mins.
  8. Let the masala to be coated with prawns well..After 5 minutes open the lid and allow to evaporate excess water if any..

Prawns masala is ready to serve... Enjoy..
Serve it with Plain rice,chappathi,porotta.. etc..
