Pumpkin Chilli Curry | Mathanga mulak curry




Hello readers..Today I am with a tasty vegetarian curry recipe.It can be easy to make.This is a simple style of making tasty pumpkin curry.Little spicy and sour.I use little vinegar for this sourness and sugar for little sweetness.I did not use tomato in this.I never quit it.I add tomato paste instead of that.I used unripe pumpkin.You can use ripe pumpkin for this by avoiding adding sugar to it.

Ingredients needed for this pumpkin chilli curry:

  1. Pumpkin - Cleaned,peeled and cut into small cubes.
  2. Onion-1 big .Crushed.
  3. Ginger and garlic-2 tablespoon.
  4. Green chillies-finely chopped.
  5. Tomato paste-2 tablespoons.
  6. Curry leaves-2 sprig.
  7. Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon.
  8. Red chilli powder-1 tablespoon.
  9. Sugar-1 teaspoon.
  10. Vinegar-2 teaspoon.
  11. Cooking oil-As required.
  12. Salt-To taste.
  13. Water-1 cup.

Method of preparation :

  1. Heat a pan add 2 tablespoon of cooking oil.
  2. Put crushed onion,ginger and garlic one by one..Stir regularly
  3. Add salt to taste. Saute until raw smell of onion and ginger garlic goes.Add in green chillies to it.
  4. Add in tomato paste to it. Add in turmeric powder and red chilli powder to it.
  5. Turn the flame to lower.Add in enough water for cooking pumpkin.About 1 cup.
  6. Cover it and cook pumpkin completely..Turn of the flame when pumpkin is completely cooked.
  7. Spread fresh curry leaves and turn off the flame.
  8. Serve after 5 minutes.

Serving suggestions:

  • Serve with cooked rice.
  • Serve with chappathi.

Suate ginger,garlic,onion and green chillies..


Add in tomato paste,turmeric powder and red chilli powder..


Add some water and put pumkin and cook well


When it is completly cooked spread some curry leaves and serve after 5 minutes..
