Spicy Pakkavada Recipe.


Pakkavada | Ribbon pakkavada 
Pakkavada is one of the famous snacks from India which made with rice flour and gram flour. It is also known as ribbon pakoda and olapakkoda because of its shape.If you have a idiyappam mould /seva with its slit disc you can make this at your home.Only very few ingrtedients are needed for this.

Ingredients for making pakkavada are:
  1. Rice flour -1 cup (Roasted)
  2. Gram flour/Kadalamaav/Besan-2 cups.
  3. Curry leaves-few.
  4. Asafoeida-1/2 teaspoon.
  5. Red chilli powder-1 teaspoon.
  6. Turmeric powder-a pinch.
  7. Oil for frying.
  8. Water as required for kneading.
  9. Salt-to taste.



Preparation:

  1. Take a mixing bowl and put all those ingredients together except oil and curry leaves.
  2. Add little water and knead them well. Knead the well until it becomes a smooth dough by adding little little water.
  3. The consistancy of dough is thinner than chappathi dough.Apply little oil in hands to avoid sticking.
  4. Fill the idiyappam mould with pakkavada making disc.Place a portion of dough into mould.
  5. Heat a pan with oil for deep frying.Press the dough into hot oil in a circular motion.Fry until it gets crispier.
  6. Take it out from oil and place it to a tissue paper to remove excess oil from it.
  7. Just before switch off the flame put some curry leaves into hot oil.Add this to pakkavada.

Serve with hot tea or sulaimani :)
