Rava Kaachiyath | Sooji Kaachiyath | Thari kanji | Semolina drink

Today I am sharing an iftar special drink, Rava Kaachiyath or thari kanji.Watch my youtube video here
Let us get started,

Ingredients needed for this recipe:

  1. Rava/Semolina - 2 Tablespoons.
  2. Ghee - 2 Tablespoons.
  3. Sugar- 4 Tablespoons or as required.
  4. Salt - A pinch.
  5. Milk - 2 Cups.
  6. Water -1 Cup.
  7. Cardamom powder- 1/4 teaspoon.
  8. Shallots -1 Tablespoon, finely chopped.
  9. Cashew nuts - 8 to 10 numbers.
  10. Raisins -10 to 15 numbers.

Method of preparation:


  1. Heat a pan add semolina and dry roast for few seconds. Keep it aside.
  2. Boil milk along with water in a saucepan. Add cardamom powder, sugar and a pinch of salt and mix well.
  3. Add roasted semolina and cook for 1 to 2 minutes in a medium flame until semolina is cooked.
  4. Heat a pan and add ghee. roast cashew nuts and raisins. Pour this over the prepared drink.
  5. Heat the same pan add little more ghee and add finely chopped shallots. Fry until golden brown. Pour this into the prepared drink.
  6. The drink should be in thin consistency. Serve warm.
