Chilli Soya chunks | Soybean chilli recipe



Soya chunks chilli / Chili Soybean is a popular and a nutrient protein packed Indo-Chinese starter recipe, made with soya been nuggets. it is simple and easy to prepare and it can be made within minutes as compared to other Indo-Chinese street food recipes. generally, the dry variants of soybean chilli are popular, but can also be made with gravy too.


firstly, I would highly recommend to the clean and boil the soya nuggets thoroughly before using it in this recipe. some brand does mention to skip this, but I would recommend following this step anyway. secondly, In this recipe, I have deep fried the coated soya nuggets which can be easily pan-fried or shallow fried or baked for less oil consumption.
Ingredients:
For frying soya chunks:

  1. Soya Chunks- 2 Cups.
  2. Ginger garlic paste/crushed-1 tablespoon.
  3. Red chilli powder-1 teaspoon.
  4. Black pepper powder- 1/4 Teaspoon.
  5. Vinegar-1 Tablespoon.
  6. Yoghurt- 1 1/2 Tablespoon.
  7. Cornflour-1 Tablespoon.
  8. All-purpose flour- 1 Tablespoon.
  9. Salt to taste.

For making gravy :

  1. Oil-2 Tablespoons.
  2. Garlic- 1Tablespoon, Minced,
  3. Green Chillies- 2 numbers, or to taste.
  4. Onion-2 Diced.
  5. Capsicum-1 Cup, cubed.
  6. Tomato puree- Puree of 1 large tomato.
  7. Soy Sauce-1 Teaspoon.
  8. Red chilli sauce- 1 Teaspoon.
  9. Tomato sauce- 3 Tablespoons.
  10. Black Pepper powder-1/2 Teaspoon.
  11. Corn flour-1 Tablespoon.
  12. Spring Onion or coriander leaves for garnishing.
  13. Water as required.
  14. Salt to taste.


Method of preparation :


  1. In a large saucepan boil enough water with a teaspoon of salt.now add 2 cups of soya chunks. Boil for 10 minutes or until soya turns soft. Drain off the water and rinse with cold water. Cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl take curd, ginger garlic paste, black pepper powder, chilli powder, vinegar and salt to taste. Mix it well make a smooth marination paste. Add soya chunks and mix well. Now add corn flour and all-purpose flour and coat the flour well.
  3.  In a large pan heat tablespoons of oil and saute minced garlic and 2 green chillies on high flame.
  4. also, saute 2 diced or cubed onions on high flame.
  5. further, add cubes capsicum and continue to saute till they slightly change colour.
  6. additionally, add 1 tbsp soy sauce 3 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce,  1/2 tsp pepper and salt to taste.
  7. Mix well and saute for a minute.
  8. Make cornflour slurry by adding 1/4 cup of water to 1 tablespoon of cornflour. Mix it well.
  9. Add cornflour slurry and mix until the gravy slightly thickens and turns glossy. Add fried soya chunks and mix well.
  10. finally, transfer soya chilli to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped spring onions green or coriander leaves.


 Serve with fried rice.
