Mutton Curry | Mutton in roasted coconut gravy




Hello, my readers today I am here with a mutton curry recipe. This mutton curry is especially for low carb high-fat diet followers or keto diet followers. I made this last week and serve this curry with cauliflower ghee rice. I will share that recipe as next keep follow me.





Ingredients for making this mutton curry are :
To cook mutton-

  1. Mutton- 500 gms.
  2. Turmeric powder-1/4 Teaspoon.
  3. Red Chili powder-1/2 Teaspoon.
  4. Ginger and garlic-1/2 Teaspoon, crushed
  5. Water- about 1/2 cup.
  6. Salt to taste.

For the gravy-

  1. Coconut oil-2 Tablespoons.
  2. Cardamom-3 Numbers.
  3. Cloves-4 Numbers.
  4. Cinnamon stick-1 small piece
  5. Black pepper-1/2 teaspoon.
  6. Coconut-1 Cup,shredded.
  7. Ginger and garlic-1/2 Teaspoon, crushed
  8. Onion-1 small(1/4 cup,chopped) 
  9. Green chilly-2 numbers, slitted
  10. Curry leaves- few.
  11. Turmeric powder-1/4 Teaspoon.
  12. Coriander powder-2 teaspoons.
  13. Red Chili powder-1/2 Teaspoon
  14. Tomato-1 small tomato, chopped.
  15. Garam masala powder-1/2 Teaspoon.
  16. Salt to taste.


Method of preparation:

  1. In a pressure cooker add cleaned mutton/lamb pieces along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger garlic, salt and little water. Pressure cook this for 4 to 5 whistles.
  2. Heat a pan with a tablespoon of coconut oil. Add cardamom, cloves, black pepper and cinnamon stick. Saute this in oil for a few seconds.
  3. Add shredded coconut and roast until golden brown. Remove from the heat and let it cool down.
  4. Grind this by adding little water till it becomes a smooth paste. 
  5. Heat a large pan with coconut oil. Add ginger garlic and chopped onion. Saute well.
  6. Add green chillies and curry leaves. Saute this for few seconds. Add salt to taste.
  7. Now add in all spice powders except garam masala powder.
  8. Saute them for few minutes in low flame. 
  9. Now add chopped tomato and cook them well.
  10. Add in cooked mutton along with any water leftover.cover and cook them for 5 minutes. Add garam masala powder and mix it well.
  11. Mutton curry is ready.. Garnish with curry leaves and enjoy...
