Coconut Tomato Curry



Hai all.
I am a tomato lover so I include tomatoes in my most curries and dishes.. Today I am sharing a tasty curry recipe with tomato and coconut.This is my moms recipe.It is a tasty side dish with plain rice.It is less spicy curry,So it can be served with any other spicy curry like fish chilly curry(Meen mulakittathu).It is the awesome combination.Lets check the recipe..





Ingredients for making tomato curry:

  1. Tomato-2 medium sized.
  2. Green chillies-2 or 3 slitted.
  3. Coconut-grated 1.5 cup.
  4. Shallots-Finely chopped.
  5. Shallots-for grinding(5 numbers).
  6. Cumin powder-1/4 tsp.
  7. Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp.
  8. Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp.
  9. Curry leaves-few.
  10. Salt-As required,
  11. Oil-As required.
  12. Water as needed for grinding.


Method for making tomato curry:




  1. In an earthen pot cook sliced tomato with green chillies,salt and water.
  2. At the time of cooking the tomato we have to grind coconut with shallots,turmeric powder,cumin powder with required water.
  3. When tomatoes are cooked pour this grinded mixture into it.
  4. Wait until it starts boiling.Do not boil it.When it starts boiling turn off the flame.
  5. Then heat a teaspoon of oil in another pan.Add in Mustard seeds.Allow it to splutter.
  6. Then add chopped shallots and fry them until it gets brown colour.Add in curry leaves.
  7. Season the tomato curry with this.Serve it into a bowl.

Serve with steamed plain rice.Have a tasty lunch.
