Mutton Korma

Today I am going to sharing mutton korma in my style. Korma is a delicious form of curry which has thick gravy..Specialty of the korma is not so spicy.If you love more spice you can add pepper powder.Do not add red chilli powder to it.Because colour of gravy is not reddish.The taste of coconut milk is awesome in this gravy.I used thick coconut milk.
This korma can make with chicken and beef.
You can add ground cashew nuts to thicken the gravy.For that first soak the cashews in water and then grind it to make a fine paste.I never used it.But it is also thick gravy.A trick behind it..Do you want to know the recipe of making this delicious korma,continue reading..

Ingredients for making Mutton Korma:

  1. Mutton-Washed,cut into medium sized pieces.
  2. Ginger Garlic paste-2 tablespoons.
  3. Onion-2 medium sized ,Chopped.
  4. Green chillies-3 to 4 numbers(Adjust according to your spice level)
  5. Coconut milk-Thick milk,1 cup.
  6. Tomato-1 medium sized,chopped.
  7. Curry leaves-1 spring.
  8. Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon.
  9. Coriander Powder-2 Tablespoon.
  10. Pepper powder-1 teaspoon.(optional)
  11. Salt-As required.
  12. Oil-As required.
  13. Water-As needed for grinding.

Method for making Mutton Korma:

  1. First we have to cook mutton with a pinch of salt,a pinch of turmeric and 1/2 cup of water.Set aside.
  2. Use pressure cooker to cook mutton.
  3. Heat oil in pan add in ginger garlic,Onion,green chillies and saute well.
  4. Adjust salt.When the onions become translucent add and all spice powders..Keep the flame lower..
  5. Allow it to cool.When it is cooled grind it with a little water to a smooth paste.
  6. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan.Add this ground paste.Add in fresh curry leaves 
  7. Add in sliced tomato and boil it.When the gravy is boiled,add in cooked mutton along with its water.So use a little water to cook mutton.
  8. Add in thick coconut milk to it stir well.When it is boiled turn off the flame..
  9. Serve after 5 minutes..Enjoy yummy korma... :)

Serving suggestions:

  • Serve with appam.
  • Serve with ghee rice,plain rice.
  • Serve with Chappathi or porotta.


Masala mixture ready..Let it cool down.

Add in thick coconut milk..

Boil it... It is ready....
