Potato Kizhi / Aaloo kizhi

Today I am going to share a tasty appetizer recipe with potato.I am a potato lover.So my hubby always bought potatoes for me..I make  variety of potato dishes for him.Some days ago I made a tasty tea time appetizer.This was not prepared earlier.It is a spontaneous recipe for me..But its taste is great..You must try out this recipe.
I wrapped potato in a kizhi with maida..I was awesome.Easy to prepare this delicious appetizer..

Ingredients for making filling of potato kizhi:

  1. Potatoes-2 medium sized .
  2. Onion-1 medium sized ,sliced.
  3. Ginger garlic paste-2 tablespoon.
  4. Green chillies-2-3 chopped finely.
  5. Curry leaves-few chopped.
  6. Turmeric powder-1 pinch.
  7. Garam masala powder-1/2 teaspoon.
  8. Pepper powder-1/2 teaspoon.
  9. Salt-1/2 teaspoon.
  10. Oil for frying.
  11. Water as required.

Ingredients for making the dough:

  1. Maida/All purpose flour-1 1/2 cups
  2. Salt -1 teaspoon.
  3. Oil-2 tablespoon.

Method of making filling:
  1. Cook potatoes with skin in needed water with a pinch of salt.
  2. Peel of  the skin of potatoes and mash it thoroughly.
  3. Heat a pan.Add in 2 tablespoon of oil it.Add  in ginger garlic paste,chopped onion,green chillies  and curry leaves into it.Adjust salt.
  4. Saute well until onion completely cooked.Turn flame to simmer.
  5. Add in mashed poatatoes. Add in all spice powders.Mix well.Set aside this filling Filling is ready,allow it to cool down.
Method of preparation:

  1. Make a smooth dough with maida by adding enough water and salt.
  2. Make equal sized balls with it(Lemon sized).Roll them to make like chappathis.
  3. Place the potato filling in it.Wrap it like a kizhi.
  4. Heat a deep pan and add oil for deep frying.Deep fry them in oil.
  5. Serve it..

Serving suggestions:

  • Serve it with tomato sauce.
  • Serve as a tea time snack.

Cook and mash the potatoes like this...

Put this to onion mixture..

Put all spice powders into it.

Mix well..

Make a smooth dough with maida..

Make balls with it..

Roll them..

Place the filling.

Make a kizhi like this..

All done..

Fry it..

Place them to a tissue paper to remove excess oil in it..
