Kakka irachi ularthiyath | Kerala style Clam Meat Roast

Recipe with clam meat...!! yummy .. I really miss those days in Kerala.. My sweet home ,my mom..
Well going to cook something special for someone who is special for you.This clam meat roast is prepared by cooking clam meat initially with a little bit of turmeric powder, required salt and enough water.Then drain the excess water from it.This cooked meat added to the gravy made with onion,garlic,ginger and  curry leaves. I always remembers the smell of India,Kerala when I am seeing and using curry leaves in my dishes.

Spices added to this clam meat roast gives an extra ordinary smell and taste for this kerala delicious dish.It can be served with chappathi,cooked plain rice etc.

Kerala style kakka irachi ularthiyath/Clam meat roast

Ingredients used for making clam meat roast:

  1. Clam meat/Kakka irachi-1/2 kg (Cleaned).
  2. Onion-3 medium sized,sliced.
  3. Green chillies-3 or 4 Slitted.
  4. Ginger and Garlic-Crushed,2 tablespoons.
  5. Curry leaves-2 sprig.
  6. Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon.
  7. Chilli powder-1/2 tablespoon.
  8. Coriander powder-1 tablespoon.
  9. Garam masala powder-1 tablespoon.
  10. Black Pepper powder-1/2 teaspoon.
  11. Oil-4 tablespoon.
  12. Salt- As required.
  13. Water-As required.

Method of preparation:
  1. Clean and wash kakka irachi thoroughly.Cook them in required water with a pinch of turmeric powder and salt.When it is cooked drain its excess water from it.Keep this aside.
  2. Heat a pan with oil in it.Add in crushed ginger and garlic.Saute until goes raw smell from it.
  3. Add in curry leaves.Add green chillies and onion to it.
  4. Add salt into it. Saute until onion gets translucent.
  5. Add in turmeric powder.powder. Saute for few seconds.
  6. Add cooked clam meat to it.
  7. Now add other spice powders to it.
  8. Keep stir it continuously.Add a little oil to it if needed.It prevents to sticking at bottom.Keep stirring until it gets little crispy.
  9. Clam roast is ready.Serve this with  cooked plain rice,chappathis,porottas.

Step 6 .Add in cooked clam meat to this.

Add in spice powders.. Almost ready.
