Semiya Payasam/Vermicelli payasam /Sweet Indian dessert


Almost many people loves sweets.Today I am here with a sweet Indian desert recipe.I love to make payasam(Indian desert) in every family occasions.Semiya payasam is one of my favourite Indian payasam.Semiya payasam is one of the major part of kerala sadya(Onam sadya).Let me share this sweet Indian payasam recipe.

Ingredients used for preparing vermicelli payasam:

  1. Vermicelli-1 cup.(broken)
  2. Milk-1 cup or more.
  3. Sugar-1 cup.(adjust according to your taste)
  4. Chavvari-3 tablespoon.
  5. Cardamom-4 numbers.
  6. Cashew nuts-5 to 6 numbers.
  7. Rasisins-10 numbers.
  8. Salt -a pinch.
  9. Water-3 cups.

Method of preparation:

  1. Heat a pan put chavvari in it. Dry roast for some time(2 minutes).Then soak this in 1 cup of water.
  2. Heat a pan and put ghee in it.Fry cashew nuts and raisins in that pan.
  3. In that same pan roast vermicelli by complete stirring.The vermicelli should not burnt it should turn golden.
  4. Cook the chavvari by continuous stirring.Set this aside.
  5. In a large pan boil water in it.Add the roasted vermicelli into it.Cook until it gets soft.
  6. When the vermicelli becomes transparent, add sugar and cardamom seeds to it.
  7. Add cooked chavvari to it.
  8. Add milk to it.When milk bring to boil add a pinch of salt and turn of the flame.
  9. Garnish the hot payasam with fried cashews and raisins.
  10. Serve when it gets thicker. Enjoy..yummy payasam..
