Uzhunnu vada/Urad dal vada
Ingredients needed for uzhunnu vada:
- Urad dal/Uzhunnu-1 cup
- Green chillies-Finely chopped(2 to 3 nos.)
- Ginger-Thinly chopped.1 '' piece.
- Shallots-6 to 8 no.s(Chopped)/Onion-1 medium sized onion chopped.
- Curry leaves chopped-2 sprigs.
- Salt to taste.
- Oil for deep frying.
- Water as required for grinding.
Method of preparation:
- Wash the urad dal and soak it for 2 to 4 hours.Drain the water and grind them thoroughly by adding 3 or 4 tablespoon water if it is required.Mix this with ginger,onion,chopped shallots,curry leaves and salt.
2.Keep this for 15 minutes.
3.Heat oil for deep frying in a wok.Test the oil if it is heated put a little batter to oil,it will rise up.
4.Wet you palm with cold water and take a spoon of batter and make a ball with it.Slowly flatten it and put a hole in the middle of them with your finger.
5.Put this to hot oil.Turn the flame to medium.
6.Cook it until it turns golden brown colour.
Uzhunnu vada is ready..Serve it with coconut chutney.. and a hot black tea..
