Ulli vada is a tasty snack which is commonly seen in kerala tea shops.It can be easily make.It is very tasty snack.The base of the onion pakoda is besan/gram flour.

Ingredients for making ulli vada:
- Onion-2 big Onions sliced.
- Green chillies- 3 no.s chopped.
- Gram flour/Kadalamaavu-1 cup.
- Rice flour-2 tablespoon.
- Chilly powder-1 teaspoon.
- Asafoetida-1 pinch.
- Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon.
- Curry leaves-1 sprig chopped.
- Baking soda-1 pinch.
- Salt to taste.
- Water as needed.
- Oil for deep frying.
Method of preparation:
- In a bowl take gram flour,rice flour,baking soda and salt.Mix well.
- Add in sliced onion and chopped green chillies.
- Add a little water and mix it well with your hand.,Add more water if it needs.(consistency of batter is not so watery nor too thick).
- Heat a heavy bottomed pan with oil in it.Drop small balls of pakoda to it.
- Deep fry them till it get crispy and a golden brown colour.Cook in medium flame.
- Strain it to the tissue paper to filter excess oil in it.
Serve with tea.. enjoy...
