Falafel Recipe | Tasty Arabian snack
Falafel is a very popular middle east snack.As a main dish it is served as sandwich, stuffed in pita bread, with tomatoes and tahini sauce. It can be served as an appetizer with hummus combination. It is made by grinding chickpea and garlic together.Let us check out the simplest way of making tasty falafel.
Ingredients for making falafel:
- Dried chickpeas-1 cup.
- Onion-1 large onion sliced.
- Garlic- 2 cloves.
- Cumin-1 teaspoon.
- All purpose flour-2 tablespoon.
- Green chillies-2 numbers sliced.
- Salt to taste.
- Oil for frying.
Preparation:
- Soak dried chickpeas for 8 hours in cold water.
- Blend them in a mixer grinder along with garlic cloves,cumin,onion(add them as chopped).
- The mixture should not be smooth.But it should not have large chunks.
- Take this to a mixing bowl and add all purpose flour,salt and mix them well with your hands.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
- Make balls with this chickpea mixture. Make desired shape and put it into hot oil. Fry them in a medium flame.
- Fry until it gets little crispness and a golden brown colour to each side.
- When it is done take it out and drain excess oil with a paper towel
Serve hot falafel with hummus and tahini. Can also make sandwich with tomatoes, tahini wrapped with kubboos.
