Crab curry | spicy kerala style njandu curry

  1. Crab cleaned- 500 gms
  2. Onion - 3nos
  3. Green chilies- 4 nos
  4. Ginger- 1" piece
  5. Garlic- 4  cloves
  6. Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  7. Tomato chopped- 1 small
  8. Red chili powder- 1 to 1.5  tsp
  9. Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  10. Coriander powder- 1 tsp
  11. Black pepper powder-1/2 tsp
  12. Garam masala powder-1/4 tsp
  13. Fennel powder-1/4 tsp
  14. Salt to tast
  15. Oil- as required.


  1. Wash and clean Crab with shell.
  2. Boil crab with turmeric powder in a pan with 1/2 cup water for 15 minutes or till cooked the water in the pan dries up.
  3. Heat oil in a seperate pan. Fry chopped onions till golden brown and add all other ingrediants into it.
  4. Add chopped tomato and the curry leaves into it.Stir for a minute.
  5. Add the cooked crab and salt into the above mixture.
  6. Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 10 minutes. Serve hot with
