Hello, foodies today I am here with a simple fish fry recipe. This is one of my favorite recipes. I love kingfish to fry and make biriyani with kingfish. South Indian non-veg meal is incomplete without a fish fry. We can prepare fish fry in different ways by using different ingredients and spices as per your taste. Let us get started.

Ingredients for making Kerala style fish fry are:

  1. Fish steaks-2 numbers (can use any fish, I used Kingfish)
  2. Kashmiri chilli powder-1 Tablespoon.
  3. Turmeric powder-½ Teaspoon.
  4. Fennel powder-¼ Teaspoon.
  5. Ginger garlic paste-1 Teaspoon.
  6. Lemon juice-1 Teaspoon.
  7. Black pepper powder-½ Teaspoon.
  8. Curry leaves- Few.
  9. Oil-As required for shallow frying.
  10. Salt to taste.

Method of preparation:

  1. In a bowl add Kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, black pepper powder and salt. Mix it well. 
  2. Add little water and make a smooth paste. Apply this masala to fish steaks. 
  3. Keep the marinated fish for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the fish pieces. Add few curry leaves. Cover it and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.After 3 minutes, open the lid and flip the fish pieces carefully.
  5. Reduce the flame to low and fry for another 5 minutes.
  6. When both sides become light brown, turn off the flame.
  7. The fish fry is now ready..Remove from oil and serve..
