Ingredients for making Kerala style fish fry are:
- Fish steaks-2 numbers (can use any fish, I used Kingfish)
- Kashmiri chilli powder-1 Tablespoon.
- Turmeric powder-½ Teaspoon.
- Fennel powder-¼ Teaspoon.
- Ginger garlic paste-1 Teaspoon.
- Lemon juice-1 Teaspoon.
- Black pepper powder-½ Teaspoon.
- Curry leaves- Few.
- Oil-As required for shallow frying.
- Salt to taste.
Method of preparation:
- In a bowl add Kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, black pepper powder and salt. Mix it well.
- Add little water and make a smooth paste. Apply this masala to fish steaks.
- Keep the marinated fish for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the fish pieces. Add few curry leaves. Cover it and cook for 2 - 3 minutes.After 3 minutes, open the lid and flip the fish pieces carefully.
- Reduce the flame to low and fry for another 5 minutes.
- When both sides become light brown, turn off the flame.
- The fish fry is now ready..Remove from oil and serve..
