Rose Milk Pudding | China grass pudding


Today I am sharing a simple rose milk pudding recipe. This pudding is very easy to make.You can watch video here.


Agar agar (china grass) is a vegetarian substitute for gelatin which is flavorless and odorless, which makes it an excellent thickening agent for cooking especially for desserts like puddings.
Agar Agar is a rich source of calcium and iron, and also very high in fiber.   It contains no sugar and fat-free.  It is known for its ability to aid in digestion and weight loss.

Ingredients needed for this pudding:


  1. Milk - 500 ml ( 2 cups)
  2. Sugar - 1/2 cup or based on your taste. ( If required))
  3. Rose Syrup - 2 to 3 tbsp
  4. China grass - 5 to 7 gms
  5. Water 1 Cup.



Method of preparation:

  1. Cut china grass into small pieces and soak in water for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan add milk and sugar. Allow boiling the milk on a medium flame.
  3. Add soaked china grass to the milk and heat the mixture till the china grass melts completely.
  4. Allow cooling this mixture slightly. Add rose syrup to this milk mixture and mix well.
  5. Strain the mixture and pour this into 3 cups/ molds.
  6. Cover it and refrigerate for 2 - 3 hours.
  7. Unmold from the bowl to a plate.. garnish with rose syrup and serve.
