Soya chunks chilli / Chili Soybean is a popular and a nutrient protein packed Indo-Chinese starter recipe, made with soya been nuggets. it is simple and easy to prepare and it can be made within minutes as compared to other Indo-Chinese street food recipes. generally, the dry variants of soybean chilli are popular, but can also be made with gravy too.
Ingredients:
For frying soya chunks:
- Soya Chunks- 2 Cups.
- Ginger garlic paste/crushed-1 tablespoon.
- Red chilli powder-1 teaspoon.
- Black pepper powder- 1/4 Teaspoon.
- Vinegar-1 Tablespoon.
- Yoghurt- 1 1/2 Tablespoon.
- Cornflour-1 Tablespoon.
- All-purpose flour- 1 Tablespoon.
- Salt to taste.
For making gravy :
- Oil-2 Tablespoons.
- Garlic- 1Tablespoon, Minced,
- Green Chillies- 2 numbers, or to taste.
- Onion-2 Diced.
- Capsicum-1 Cup, cubed.
- Tomato puree- Puree of 1 large tomato.
- Soy Sauce-1 Teaspoon.
- Red chilli sauce- 1 Teaspoon.
- Tomato sauce- 3 Tablespoons.
- Black Pepper powder-1/2 Teaspoon.
- Corn flour-1 Tablespoon.
- Spring Onion or coriander leaves for garnishing.
- Water as required.
- Salt to taste.
Method of preparation :
- In a large saucepan boil enough water with a teaspoon of salt.now add 2 cups of soya chunks. Boil for 10 minutes or until soya turns soft. Drain off the water and rinse with cold water. Cool completely.
- In a large bowl take curd, ginger garlic paste, black pepper powder, chilli powder, vinegar and salt to taste. Mix it well make a smooth marination paste. Add soya chunks and mix well. Now add corn flour and all-purpose flour and coat the flour well.
- In a large pan heat tablespoons of oil and saute minced garlic and 2 green chillies on high flame.
- also, saute 2 diced or cubed onions on high flame.
- further, add cubes capsicum and continue to saute till they slightly change colour.
- additionally, add 1 tbsp soy sauce 3 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce, 1/2 tsp pepper and salt to taste.
- Mix well and saute for a minute.
- Make cornflour slurry by adding 1/4 cup of water to 1 tablespoon of cornflour. Mix it well.
- Add cornflour slurry and mix until the gravy slightly thickens and turns glossy. Add fried soya chunks and mix well.
- finally, transfer soya chilli to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped spring onions green or coriander leaves.
Serve with fried rice.
