Tomato curry | Thakkali Curry recipe | Bachelors recipe

Hey, there today I am gonna share an easy tomato curry recipe, which can be easily made and served as a side dish for rice chapati, appam, etc.
Let us get started.


Ingredient in this recipe are:

  1. Coconut oil-2 tablespoons.
  2. Fenugreek seeds-1/4 teaspoon.
  3. Mustard seeds-1/4 Teaspoon.
  4. Ginger and garlic-1 tablespoon, crushed.
  5. Cury leaves-few.
  6. Onion-1 large, finely chopped.
  7. Green chillies-2 green chilies.
  8. Turmeric powder-1/4 Teaspoon.
  9. Red chili powder-1 Tablespoon.
  10. Fennel powder-1/4 Teaspoon.
  11. Tomato 1 or 2 chopped.
  12. Tamarind- 1 small piece.
  13. Water and needed.
  14. Salt to taste.

Method of preparation:

  1. Heat a pan or a manchatti(earthen pot). Add oil and heat this in a medium flame. Once the oil is heated, add fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter. Add crushed ginger and garlic to this add saute for few seconds. Add a few curry leaves and a green chilly.
  2. Saute one chopped onion until translucent. Then add all spice powders and saute until the raw smell goes.
  3. Add chopped tomato and cook the tomato well. Add enough water to adjust the gravy. 
  4. Add pulp to the curry. Filter and add. Cover and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Open the lid and reduce the flame to low and cook it for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Tomato curry is now ready.

Serve it with rice chappathi etc..
