Coconut Mint Chutney |പുതിന ചമ്മന്തി |पुदीना चटनी | Coriander mint chutney recipe

Mint Chutney or Pudina Chutney is a deliciously spicy condiment/chutney prepared from fresh Mint Leaves (Pudina), Coriander leaves, Ginger,  and grated coconut.
Mint Chutney can be served with various starters like Tikkas, Kebabs, and almost all Tandoori delicacies as well as with Indian snacks like Kachori, Samosa, Batata Vada, Dhokla, etc. This chutney also goes very well with South Indian foods like Uttapams, Dosas, and Idlis and compliments the traditional Coconut Chutney. Pudina chutney is an important part of many street-side foods like Aloo Tikki, Vada Pav, etc.

Ingredients for making Pudina chutney:
  1. Coconut- grated,1 Cup.
  2. Mint leaves- 1cup.
  3. Coriander leaves -1/4 cup.
  4. Onion/shallots-2 pieces.
  5. Ginger- a piece.
  6. Green chilli-1 or 2.
  7. Tamarind- a piece.
  8. Water- 2 tablespoons.
  9. Coconut oil-1 teaspoon.
  10. Mustard seeds- 1/4 teaspoon.
  11. Dried red chili-1 or 2.
  12. Curry leaves-few.
  13. Salt to taste.

Method of preparation:
  1. Into a mixer-jar add coconut, mint leaves, coriander leaves, onion, ginger, green chilli, tamarind, water and salt to taste.
  2. Grind it to smooth paste.
  3. Keep this aside.
  4. Heat a small pan and add coconut oil. When the oil is heated add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  5. Add dried red chilli and few curry leaves. Add this tadka to the ground coconut paste.

Coconut mint chutney is ready... serve with beef kabab or chicken tikka enjoy.
