Ingredients required in this recipe are:
- Unsalted Butter-30 gms (2 tablespoons)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder-3 Tablespoons.
- Egg- 1 egg at room temperature.
- Vanilla essence- 1/2 Teaspoon.
- Sugar-1/3 cup ( about 70gms)
- All-purpose flour-40 g (¼ cup)
- Baking soda-1/4 Teaspoon.
- Salt a pinch.
- Milk-1/2 Cup.
- Drinking Chocolate powder-1 tablespoon.
- Nutella or any chocolate frosting as needed.
Method of preparation:
- Heat a heavy-bottomed 6-inch or 8-inch non-stick pan. Melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and add unsweetened cocoa powder. Mix well without any lumps.
- Add in egg, sugar, and milk beat well. Add in vanilla essence and mix it.
- Add the sifted flour, baking soda, salt, and mix to combine.
- Make sure to scrape the bottom of the pan and clean the sides.
- Covered with a lid, and cook the cake on a low flame for 10 - 12 minutes. Do not walk away. Check with a toothpick. Take the pan off the heat, leaving the lid on, and allow the cake to rest for 2 minutes.
- Remove from pan and cool completely. Prick some holes in the cake with a toothpick and keep aside.
- Mix 1/2 cup of milk with sweet chocolate powder. You can use drinking chocolate. Pour this milk over the cake to soak.
- Frost the cake with any chocolate frosting or Nutella. Slice and enjoy...
