Malai Jar Cake | Easy Milk cake in Jars (No oven & Beater )

 Hey, Foodies Today I am here with a yummy melt in mouth malai jar cake / Milk Cake.



This technique for making the cake in a jar turns a mini dessert into an adorable and portable treat. In fact, the jars can even be decorated with ribbons or labels to create edible gifts.

Malai Cake is a soft & spongy cake soaked in sweetened milk. It is an Indo – western fusion dish. Western-style cake soaked in Indian sweetened milk, flavored with saffron, and garnished with chopped nuts, It is inspired by Ras Malai which is a traditional Indian sweet. It is a spongy, juicy, and melts in mouth cake best for gifting in anniversaries for couples.

Ingredients required to make this recipe:

For the Vanilla cake base:

  1. All-purpose flour-1 Cup.
  2. Baking Powder- 1 teaspoon.
  3. Eggs- 3 medium-sized at room temperature.
  4. Oil- 1/4 Cup.
  5. Milk- 1/3 at room temperature.
  6. Vanilla essence- 1 teaspoon.
  7. Sugar-3/4 Cup (Powdered)

For making Malai(thickened milk)

  1. Milk- 3 cups.
  2. Milk Powder- 1/2 Cup
  3. Sugar-1/2 Cup.
  4. Cardamom powder- 1/4 Teaspoon.
  5. Saffron - a pinch.

Method of preparation:

  1. Prepare the 7-inch cake tin by greasing oil or butter and place a butter paper inside it.
  2. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees or preheat a pan with salt and place a stand above it for 10 minutes over medium-high heat.
  3. Sift the flour and baking powder together and keep this aside.
  4. Beat the egg and sugar together until the egg becomes frothy and creamy. Add in vanilla essence, oil and milk. Beat again.
  5. Transfer the wet ingredients to a large bowl. 
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix with a rubber spatula.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared cake tin and tap twice to remove air bubbles if any.
  8. Bake in the preheated pan for 40-45 minutes (or in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes @ 180 degrees Celcius.)Insert a toothpick at the centre and it should come out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool down. Remove the cake from pan and cool completely.
  10. In a pan boil milk with sugar. Add milk powder and cardamom powder. Mix this well.
  11. Add a pinch of saffron and boil well. Reduce the milk into cups. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  12. Slice the cake into 2 or 3 layers and cut the circles out of the slices.
  13. In a bowl whip the cream until stiff peaks forms. Add little saffron milk and mix well. Transfer the whipped cream to a piping bag.
  14. Place the cake slice inside the jar as the bottom layer.
  15. Pour the saffron milk over the cake. Prick some holes if needed.
  16. Top it with whipped cream and some chopped pistachios. And do the steps for the next layers...
  17. Enjoy chilled...
