Hey there today I am here with a sugar cookie recipe. A sugar cookie is a cookie with the main ingredients being sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla, and either baking powder or baking soda. Sugar cookies may be formed by hand, dropped, or rolled and cut into shapes. They are commonly decorated with additional sugar, icing, sprinkles, or a combination of these.

Let's get started,
Ingredients required in this recipe are:
- 3/8 cups (85 g) butter, cubes, and cold
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (90 gms)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method of preparation:
- In a bowl add cold butter and sugar. Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir a little with a spatula
- Mix and rub with hands until the mix looks like big bread crumbs.
- Whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract. Pour into the bowl and mix until the dough comes together. Take care not to over mix.
- Cover or wrap the dough with a plastic wrap and chill the dough for a minimum of 2-3 hours. Preferably chill overnight. Also, it can be frozen at this stage for up to 8 weeks.
- Once chilled, roll out some of the dough on a well-floured surface to about 1/4-1/8 inch thick.
- Cut out into desired shapes and transfer them to a baking tray lined with baking paper. (this is a soft dough so work fast).
- Bake in the preheated oven at 160-degree Celcius for 18-20 minutes or until a light golden brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack.
- Dust some icing sugar or decorate with royal icing if you wish and also decorate with sprinkles. You can store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
