Chicken Sausage Biriyani Recipe | Easy Sausage Biriyani in pressure cooker

 





Hey foodies, Today I am here with a simple but delicious sausage biriyani recipe. This biryani is so easy to make and is great for a lunch box. It tastes really delicious and is so easy to make as well. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

Ingredients required in this biriyani are :

  1. Long grain rice or Basmati rice- 2 Cups.
  2. Chicken sausages- 6-8 fingers.
  3. Oil - 1 Tablespoon.
  4. Salt to taste.
  5. Turmeric powder-2 pinches.
  6. Ghee- 1 Tablespoon.
  7. Whole Garam Masala- 
  8. Cinnamon stick- 1-inch piece.
  9. Fennel seeds-1/2 Teaspoon.
  10. Cloves- 3 numbers.
  11. Cardamom-3 numbers.
  12. Black peppercorns- 1/2 teaspoon.
  13. Star anise-half pod.
  14. Ginger and garlic - 1 tablespoon, crushed.
  15. Onion- 2 medium sized,sliced.
  16. Green Chillies- 1 or 2 no.s,slit.
  17. Curry leaves -few.
  18. Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon.
  19. Coriander powder-1 teaspoon.
  20. Red chili powder-1/2 teaspoon.
  21. Tomato- 1 Medium,sliced.
  22. Lemon juice- 1 tablespoon.
  23. Coriander leaves- few, chopped.
  24. Water as required - 3 cups for 2 cups rice.

Method of preparation:

  1. Wash and rinse the rice 3 -4 times in clean water. Drain of the water and soak the rice in clean water for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Chop the sausage fingers into small pieces and set them aside.
  3. Heat a pressure cooker with a tablespoon of oil. 
  4. Add chopped sausages into the cooker and lightly fry the sausage.
  5. Add salt to taste and turmeric powder. Fry until golden. Remove from the pressure cooker and keep this aside.
  6. Add in whole spices, ginger, and garlic and saute for few seconds. Saute two sliced onions along with green chillies and curry leaves until the onion becomes translucent. Also, adjust salt to taste.
  7. When the onion becomes soft and translucent, add spice powders and saute until the raw smell of the spice powders goes.
  8. Now add sliced tomato and saute it. add little water and mix well. 
  9. To this gravy add fried sausages and mix it well.
  10. Add lemon juice and coriander leaves and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  11. Reserve some sausage masala for later use.
  12. Add soaked rice and water. I have taken 3 cups of water for 2 cups of rice. Mix well.
  13. Cover the pressure cooker and cook on medium-low flame for 20 minutes.
  14. Open the cooker after the pressure released itself completely.
  15. Serve the rice along with the sausage masala that we reserve earlier. Enjoy with raita..
